Role Reversal Walking Workout with April & Mom

What happens when Mom and I switch places during a workout? You’re about to find out! 😄
Our new Role Reversal Walking Workout is a fun and energizing way to walk, boost your heart health, and share a few laughs — whether you’re standing, seated, or both!

This workout is all about teamwork, flexibility, and joy — and of course, a little bit of friendly competition between Mom and me.

The Twist: We Swap Roles!

In this workout, we start in opposite positions.
In Set 1, Mom begins standing while I start seated.
After that first set, we take a well-deserved 60-second rest — and then comes the fun part... we switch!

For Set 2 and Set 3, Mom takes the chair while I stand up to lead the moves. It’s a “role reversal” in every sense — showing that no matter how you move, you can stay strong, active, and confident.

Workout Format

This is a 20-minute walking workout that combines easy-to-follow cardio moves with just the right amount of rest.  You’ll get a great heart-healthy workout while staying comfortable and in control.

Here’s how it flows:

  1. Warm-Up (5 minutes)
Ease into movement with gentle marches, shoulder rolls, and stretches.

  2. Set 1 — Mom Standing / April Seated
5 fun low-impact cardio moves (30 seconds each)
Each followed by 20 seconds of rest.
Then, a 60-second rest before the big switch!

  3. Set 2 — Mom Seated / April Standing
5 new cardio moves to keep the energy going.
    You’ll continue the 30s move / 20s rest rhythm.
Another 60-second rest before the final round.

  4. Set 3 — April Standing / Mom Seated
A joyful finish with feel-good flow.

  5. Cooldown (3 minutes)
Stretch, breathe, and celebrate your effort.
