Book Workout #2

Work out your brain and body with our Book Workout #2! The gentle exercises in this 25 minute video will work your cardiovascular system and build muscle using a heavy book! This full body workout includes a warmup, eight exercises in 40 second rounds done twice, and a cooldown. The workout can be done standing or seated. An added bonus is that you can rack up about 1200 steps while doing it!

The eight exercises in the workout are:

Set 1:

✳️ Mini Squat

✳️ Arm scoops with butt kicks

✳️ Leg Lifts - Right and Left

✳️ Step back and Chest Press

Set 2:

✳️ Overhead Press

✳️ Stir the Pot

✳️ Back Arm Lift

✳️ Bicep Curl

Pick a book that is easy to hold. Regarding weight, select one that you can do 10 repetitions with each of the upper body exercises fairly easily (some challenge is good!) The books we use in the video weigh 1.5 pounds and 3 pounds (.68 kg and 1.5 kg):

✅ My mom’s book: A Treasury of Hercule Poirot Mysteries, Agatha Christie, 2019

✅ My book: Webster’s II New Riverside University Dictionary, 1994
